Vegan Masala chai


Do you miss PV and India? Me too...

So have a chai and just relax...

Monu had prepared best chai in PV always. This recipe is my vegan version.


recipe (serving 4)

  • 2 cup water

  • 1+1/2cup nut milk or coconut milk (homemade)

  • 2 TBSP black tea leaf

  • 2 tsp grated ginger

  • 2cm cinnamon

  • 5 clove

  • 5 cardamon

  • 1tsp coriander seed

  • 2 TBSP coconut sugar (or stevia or any kind of sweeter as you like)

method

  1. Use mortar and pestle and break spices to allow them to release their flavour.

  2. Place spices and ginger in a small pot with water.

  3. Add black tea leaf and bring to a boil and turn the off heat.let it steep at least 10 minutes.

  4. Add nut milk and coconut sugar. Bring to a simmer once more.

  5. Strain in to the your favourite cup.

Spice is Medicen

Clove is a champion of all the antioxidants.

Cardamom may lower blood pressure, improve breathing and aid weight loss.

Cinnamon can have a moderate effect in improving glycemic control.

Coriander contains antioxidants that may protect your skin from aping and sun damage.


How to prepare your own nut milk

Basic nut milk recipe

  • 1 cup nuts

  • 4 cup water

method

  1. Soak nuts overnight

  2. Blend with 4 cup water and strain and squeeze with nut milk bag

TIP;

For coconut milk

1 cup dried coconut 3 cup water


Nut pulp is the by-product from making nut milk. It is a wonderful ingredient for making crackers, cookies, breads, tart crusts, and so on.
